Develop mechanism for assessing the potential of Member State Non-Tariff Measures to pose as Technical Barriers to Trade
This assignment is aimed at the development of a mechanism for assessing the potential of Member State NTMs to pose as Technical Barriers to Trade. The specific objectives of the assignment are to:
- Identify the differences obtaining across the SADC Member States on their assessment mechanisms of SPS-related NTMs becoming Non-Tariff Barriers to Trade;
- Evaluate the deviation by each Member State from international best-practice principles of developing and applying SPS-related NTMs;
- Develop a mechanism for assessing the potential of Member State SPS-related NTMs to pose as Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT).
This project contributes to the increase in intra-regional trade through the enhancement of the transparency of SPS regimes of the SADC Member States.
